How BEATS Began…
In 2009 my first son, Rory was born. While I loved being a new mom, I did not love the new body that I had, and the 30 extra pounds that came with it. So, to get the weight off I began training for half marathons and lifting heavy weights. While it initially got the weight off, I had constant knee and back pain, and an injured IT band. I knew there had to be a better way. So, I began my fitness research and attended every class and did every video I could to see what I liked, and most importantly what worked. In 2015, I was asked to become a fitness instructor at the J.Smith Young YMCA in Lexington, NC. This was my opportunity to put all of my work and research into a class. I wanted to put everything I loved about fitness and dance into this one hour. I wanted it to be results based but also fun- I wanted that hour to fly by but also feel like you worked your body to your max level.
